Childcare & Early Years

I really enjoyed being creative on the course and making resources for children that we could use in our placements. I also enjoyed learning about different real life case studies and how to deal with different situations.

I’ve gained experience working with a variety of different age groups and in different childcare-based settings including nurseries and schools.

For anyone who wants to go into teaching, I would definitely recommend a vocational course as you can use your practical skills and take part in different activities, like handwriting skills with children and see a child’s progression.

The tutors provided one-on-one meetings to align on progress and set SMART targets for us to achieve throughout the year.

The team at the College are so welcoming, it felt like we were all a big supportive family.

The knowledge and skills I’ve gained at the College have also helped me to get a job as a Barman – my manager was really impressed when he heard about what I’d picked up on my course!

The skills I have learnt have been beneficial towards my career goals and I’ve made lifelong friends whilst studying at Middlesbrough College.
