NCFE CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning – Level 2

Core subject knowledge including safeguarding and health and safety are embedded within this course:

• Understand schools and colleges as organisations
• Understanding of children and young people’s development
• Safeguarding children and young people
• Equality, diversity, and inclusion in a learning environment for children and young people
• Maintain relationships with children and young people
• Support the health and safety of children and young people
• Support positive behaviour in a learning environment for children and young people
• Contribute to teamwork in a learning environment
• Understand young people’s play and leisure
• Promote an effective learning environment
• Provide displays in a learning environment

2 days per week in college – Monday/Tuesday (9.30-2.30) plus 2 days minimum voluntary placement

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but GCSE English and Maths or level 2 functional skills is preferred. Learners will need to obtain a placement within a school or college working with children and young people 5 year +.

Learners will need to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Learners will attend taught sessions and complete in class task to form part of a portfolio of evidence as well as completing formal assignments. Assessment of competency will take place within the work environment with skills development workshops within the college setting in addition to work placement days.

Direct progression onto the NCFE CACHE L3 STL course or work as a TA2/LS2
