Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care – Level 3

• Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
• Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
• Work Experience in Health and Social Care
• Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care
• Promoting Public Health
• Infection Prevention and Control

September – June

Students will be in a work placement at least 1 day per week

You must have achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language and maths. You will be required to complete a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

The leaners will be assessed through a range of methods including external assessments, synoptic assessments (learners can demonstrate that they can identify and use effectively their skills an techniques learnt in a realistic context) and internal assignments.

University opportunities

Higher or degree level apprenticeship, higher level technical study, including higher education. You can also progress to a degree programme with Middlesbrough College in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care.

Career opportunities

Career opportunities include: social work, nursing, therapy, speech and language therapy, midwifery, paramedic, youth work and support work.

Students will be required to wear a uniform at all times when in practical sessions, this is inline with industry expectations and health and safety.

Our MC Click scheme provides full time students (ages 16-19) on a Level 1, 2 or 3 study programmes with a free loan laptop to assist with their studies. Laptops can be collected at enrolment. Click here for more information about MC Click.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

You will be required to carry out a minimum of 100 hours or work experience as part of your qualification. This will give you invaluable real-world industry knowledge. You will have a timetabled placement day each week.

Due to the nature of the placements (young people and vulnerable adults), each student will need an enhanced DBS. The placement team will support you with this process.
