A former Middlesbrough College student is making waves on the European music scene after completing a coveted support slot on tour with one of the UK’s biggest bands.

Singer-songwriter Finn Forster, who studied Performing Arts Musical Theatre at Middlesbrough College, recently wrapped up a European tour as main support for the legendary Stereophonics – marking his first time performing in arenas and major venues across the continent.

After completing his course at Middlesbrough College, Finn went on to train at the prestigious London School of Musical Theatre, before signing with industry leaders Narrow Road.

Alongside his success in musical theatre, with credits including The Band (Let It Shine Workshop), Jason & The Argonauts and Into The Woods, Finn has forged a successful career as a recording artist and live performer.

Now signed to Interval Records (EMI North) as their first official artist, Finn is stepping into an exciting new chapter.

Finn said: “My time at Middlesbrough College gave me the perfect intro into life as a professional performer. The performing arts faculty are an asset to the course and it gave me the skills and confidence to head out into the industry with a real ‘Sky is the limit’ mindset.”

Known for his distinctive sound and heartfelt songwriting, Finn began writing and releasing his own music in 2020 and has built a loyal following.

His inclusion on the Stereophonics’ tour came after frontman Kelly Jones discovered Finn’s music online and personally invited him to join the tour.

Finn’s highly anticipated debut EP ‘Embers’ is set for release in summer 2025, accompanied by a full European tour with Stereophonics, a UK headline tour and a packed festival season including Latitude, Truck, Y Not and a main stage slot at Kendal Calling.

Nicola Scott-Hughes, Lecturer for Performing Arts at Middlesbrough College, added: “Finn’s journey is a brilliant example of where passion, commitment and training can take you. Watching him grow from a dedicated student into a professional artist performing on Europe’s biggest stages is nothing short of inspiring. He embodies the spirit of what we strive for in the Performing Arts department – nurturing creativity, resilience and ambition.

“We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in his story and it’s a real privilege to welcome him back to support and inspire the next generation of Teesside talent.”

Middlesbrough College continues to champion Finn as an ambassador for its Performing Arts department, with Finn regularly returning to take part in Industry Week and mentor the next generation of Teesside talent.
