Jack Plews and Jake Bailey
We caught up with A Level Students Jack and Jake!
Jack Plews (left) and Jake Bailey (right) are currently completing their second year of study at MC6, and we caught up with them to learn more about the exciting plans they have in place as they prepare to leave College and embark on new opportunities!
Jake (right) studies Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and has been an excellent student at MC6. He attributes much of his success to the Sixth Form’s knowledgeable and passionate teachers.
Jake said: “The teachers are really great. They really understand the age group and make us want to be there and want to learn.”
“They’re also really knowledgeable in their areas and share information in a way that makes complex subjects understandable and engaging for students of all learning styles.”
Jake’s hard work and the supportive learning environment at MC6 have earned him offers from Newcastle, York, Sheffield, Nottingham, and Hull University. However, he has chosen Nottingham as his primary choice, where he aspires to pursue a degree in Physics with a foundation year.
Jake hopes to one day become a teacher, a goal that we are confident he will achieve with his dedication and enthusiasm!
Meanwhile Jack, pictured left, is currently completing his A Levels in Computer Science, Maths, and Physics, and has brilliant plans to study a degree apprenticeship and become a Process and Plant Engineer.
This fantastic opportunity will allow Jack to blend academic study with practical industry experience, spending one day a week at Teesside University completing a Chemical Engineering degree and the remaining four days working in the industry.
When asked about his experience as a student at MC6, Jack said he has been impressed by the comprehensive learning environment at MC6, saying, “The college offers a really good learning environment. Teachers are readily available, and they all want you to do well.
“We also have great resources and support.”
Jack’s story is a powerful example of how A levels can open doors to a range of diverse opportunities, from traditional University degrees to degree apprenticeships and more.
We wish Jack and Jake all the best in their next endeavours. We are confident they will go on to achieve fantastic things after their time at MC6, and we can’t wait to see what they get up to!
