Ewan Winspear

We caught up with Music alumni student Ewan who is now studying for a degree in Film Music at University.

Ewan said: “I attended Middlesbrough College for 4 years and would describe the experience as an emotional rollercoaster of fun and learning. I met some of my best friends on the course and received excellent guidance from my tutors. The course and experience prepared me well for University and I’m now studying for a degree in Film Music.

“I would 100% recommend Middlesbrough College and the music technology course as it covered so much of the music industry, this included excellent advice and guidance into future career opportunities and understanding what it takes to be in those positions. I also was taught how to use a range of software and hardware that are used frequently within the music industry. My University degree course involves using some of the software that I was using during my time at College, so I’m one step ahead and feel confident in my degree studies.  

“All the teachers on the music production course at Middlesbrough College have a thorough understanding of their areas they teach with plenty of real life experiences to relate to. The staff are supportive and very easy to talk to.

“I loved the collaborative atmosphere that was created at Middlesbrough College. I had struggled previously in education, but the College supported me and I’m now able to collaborate with others. I made so many great friends on my course who I would never have met anywhere else.

“As well as studying at University, I am also a local musician and I enjoy gigging at local venues. My ultimate career goal is to become a composer.”
