Overview

This course is perfect for you if you have an interest in the field of sport, coaching or fitness. You will complete both practical and theoretical work in a range of environments, learning about the principles of anatomy and physiology in sport and fitness. You can study this course for two years to achieve the full diploma. Units include business, fitness training, practical sports performance and coaching. The course is assessed through 3 external exams and internal assessments.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and /or four GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) including English or maths.

The course is assessed through 3 external exams and internal assessments.

University opportunities
Past students have progressed to study degrees in outdoor adventure education, sports therapy with rehabilitation, sports coaching, sport science, sports development, physical education, education and strength and conditioning.


Career opportunities
Career opportunities include outdoor instructors, outdoor leaders, primary and secondary education, fitness and leisure management, sport science, sports coaching and nutrition.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start
of your course.


If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status,
educational background and personal circumstances.

Sports students will learn theoretical based study in the classroom, whilst taking part in a range of sport and fitness activities. Taught by specialist tutors and coaches, many of which are ex professionals in their field, you'll benefit from fantastic facilities including an AstroTurf pitch, a strength and conditioning suite and a physiology lab.
