Overview

This course is good for students wanting to enter the Building Industry who want to learn the basics of brickwork. The course will include theory and practical sessions in: General Core Units: - Carry out safe working practices in construction. - Information, quantities and communicating with others. - Building methods and construction technology. Occupation Units: - Carry out basic block laying skills. - Carry out basic bricklaying skills. - Carry out basic cavity walling. - Contribute to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level.

Entry requirements

You must undertake a successful interview.

Coursework, practical and written examinations, GOLA on-line exam.

Upon successful completion of your Brickwork Level 1 Retrain course, you can progress to further study at the College on the Level 2 Brickwork Retrain course, or an NVQ Level 2 qualification if employment is gained with a Brickwork company.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. Many people qualify for free tuition fees, for more information please contact Course Information on 01642 333333.

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
