Overview

This course is for you if you wish to develop the skills needed to progress in supported employment but require high needs support to achieve this. You will build the skills essential for employment including developing a positive and flexible attitude, work readiness and clear communication skills.

You will be given the opportunity to gain skills in areas such as CV writing, preparing for an interview, carrying out an interview before accessing long term supported internship in a live work setting. You will complete an extended work placement and attend College for up to two days per week to develop your English, maths and communication skills. You will work on your individual targets to prepare for employment.

September- June

You will attend College for two to three days per week to develop your English, maths and communication skills.

Entry requirements

You will need an EHCP and will be assessed on your suitability to enrol onto this course by the Progression Studies Team.

Assessment will be measured continously throughout the time frame of the course and will track achievements using a variety of methods.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Explore Life Skills

Life Skills students will be joining a small, self-contained community where they can develop a range of skills including writing, independence, and employment progression. Students have access to the ALS Hub, with quiet study and social spaces and specialist facilities, and can get involved in a range of projects such as the community café.
