This course is designed to further develop the skills and knowledge to work at an advanced level in carpentry and joinery. You will learn and develop a range of advanced skills required for working in the carpentry industry and will complete a number of exciting projects.

On completion of this course, you will be offered the opportunity to achieve the IOSH L1 Cert Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers and CSCS card qualifications.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 Site Carpentry qualification. School leavers are not able to apply for this course.

You will be assessed through coursework, practical assessment and unit test paper and an online multi-choice exam.

You can progress to full time employment as a site carpenter in industry, potentially through an apprenticeship if you have an employer. You could also continue your studies into higher education to progress onto a professional management role.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
