Overview

Employed students:

This is to work with employed staff to already be in a senior role or working towards senior only.
Observation in the work place, assignments, Product evidence and witness testimonies will be used. Students must engage every week with Assessor which can be remotely or classroom based. Assessor will visit the work place following the correct PPE procedures when visiting.
Health and safety assessment will be arranged and completed.


Placement students:

Must have a level 2 to complete the level 3 and have experience-students can go onto to completing level 3 if they have completed level 2 previously with their assessor as they would have been observed when completing level 2 and a placement is already in place. No students will be given the option to go onto a level 3 if they have not got a level 2 or experience in care settings unless employed.
Health and Safety assessment will be arranged and complete before placement commences.
Level 3 placement once criteria above is met: Student will attend 2 day placement of 6 hours per day agreed with person in charge of the placement of their choice which they will have in place.
The Assessor will need to see the student in their allocated placement at least 3 times which an observation will be completed to ensure all criteria within the qualification is completed
holistically. PPE will be worn by the Assessor when visiting their placement site.

Student commitment: The student must be fully committed to the qualification and stay on programme for the year to achieve their qualification.
If the student is applying for advanced learner loan they will be expected to pay the fees if they do not remain on the course due to lack of commitment or not applying for the loan when asked to do so at the start.

Entry requirements

Placement students:

Must have a level 2 to complete the level 3 and have experience-students can go onto to completing level 3 if they have completed level 2 previously with their assessor as they would have been observed when completing level 2 and a placement is already in place.

Students are to complete assignments set by the assessor for mandatory and optional units which will be explained.

  • Targets will be set by assessor regarding unit knowledge which means the student must meet the deadlines requested by assessor and be able to log into smart assessor once training has been provided.
  • Observation visits will take place.
  • There are no UCAS points attached to this course.

DBS-is to be completed once student has been accepted onto the course-cost is £52.00

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee.
