“Although I was juggling being a single mum with my assignments, good planning helped me to achieve the grades I needed to progress to University. My aspirations were to study Children’s Nursing at University and gain the final qualification I needed to become a Staff Nurse.

“Middlesbrough College was close to home. When I came to an open evening, the College’s ethos and moto of helping to succeed ticked all the right boxes for me.

“The lecturers on my course were great, and my tutor was fantastic with helping me, especially as I was diagnosed at the College as being dyslexic. The course helped prepare me for the assignments that came when I started University.

“As of September 2022, my aspirations became a reality, and I gained a degree in Children’s Nursing. I also started a new job role as a Children’s Staff Nurse at James Cook University Hospital.

“If anyone is passionate about their chosen career path and considering applying for an Access to Higher Education course at Middlesbrough College, I would say go ahead a do it!”
