Travelling to College and TTE

Middlesbrough College and TTE have a fantastic travel package for all full time students. Travelling to and from College is easy as we have teamed up with the area’s biggest bus and train operators to offer students FREE* bus travel and reimbursed weekday train travel.

Whether you live 15 or 50 minutes away, there are a number of bus and train routes available to make the journey that bit easier.

FREE* train travel 16-17 Saver Card

Your son or daughter may find that rail is the perfect way of travelling to Middlesbrough College or TTE every day. To take advantage of free train travel when they start in September, they will need to purchase a 16-17 Saver Card at £30 per year which will save 50% off your child’s train fare. Middlesbrough College/TTE will then reimburse the remaining 50% of their train fare.

Travelling to Middlesbrough College, stations include:
Darlington North Road, Darlington Bank Top, Dinsdale, Allens West, Eaglescliffe, Thornaby, Stockton, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew, Seaham, Thirsk, Northallerton, Yarm.

Travelling to TTE:
Travel from ALL stations in the region – irrespective of your home postcode.

With the 16-17 Saver Card you child can also travel across the National Rail network (except ScotRail and the Caledonian Sleeper) on weekends and Middlesbrough College/TTE holidays for shopping trips or days out.

If you are 18+, then please bring your normal fare ticket to Student Services for this to be reimbursed.

FREE* bus travel

We offer free* bus travel to full-time Middlesbrough College and TTE students across the Tees Valley on Arriva, Stagecoach and Compass Royston on the production of a valid College ID Card.

Students are also able to access a free shuttle bus, the MC Mover, from outside the BBC Building on Newport Road to and from the College throughout the day. This service runs weekdays during term time only.

In addition to the public buses above the College operates a range of dedicated buses to get your son/daughter to College each morning, which means that only Middlesbrough College students can get on them. They will be asked to sit on the same seat each day on our dedicated buses.

MC1 – Ingleby Barwick
MC2 – Easington via Saltburn & Marske
MC3 – Great Ayton via Stokesley & Hutton Rudby
MC5 – Guisborough via Ormesby

* Please note, there is a £5 administration fee if your child travels by bus for their travel sticker and this is payable termly.

Travelling by car

If your child wants to travel to College by car, they can apply for a parking permit to use the College car park. Please come to the Help Centre at the College to complete the information required. Please enquire about permit prices. 

Student parking at TTE is free of charge.
