New Applicants 

Applicants for Access to Higher Education course at Middlesbrough College will receive a letter and an email inviting you into College to complete your enrolment when you will meet your tutor, confirm your place on the course, and be able to collect your ID badge.

If you do not have your GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills results, you may be asked to do a BKSB maths and English assessment to confirm the level you are working at. 

Please bring the below to the onsite stage on your enrolment:

  • Your enrolment letter
  • Examination result slips or certificates – this must include your Unique Learner Number (ULN)
  • Your National Insurance Number and one other form of identity – such as your passport, driving licence, birth certificate, bank card, etc.
  • If you were born outside of England, please bring evidence of your residency status (i.e. ARC Card, BAIL 201 document (all pages), E-Visa and proof of 3 years residency in the EU/UK)
  • Proof of any means tested benefits you receive/low income for fee remission purposes or evidence of your loan application if you are applying for an Advanced Learner Loan

Applicants for Distance Learning Access Course 

Applicants for Distance Learning Access courses will receive a letter and an email inviting you to complete your enrolment online through our secure online enrolment facility, where you will also be asked to upload a photograph of yourself along with your qualifications.   

Once your enrolment has been confirmed by your tutor, course joining instructions will be sent out to you.

Advanced Learner Loan 

Most Access to HE students will pay for their course through accessing an Advanced Learner Loan, which is written off if you then progress on to study a degree. More information about the Advanced Learner Loan can be found here.
