We caught up with Millie Jackson, a Level 3 Media Technical Diploma (Film & Media Production) student at Middlesbrough College.

Millie recently took part in the World Skills Intercollege digital competitions hosted at Middlesbrough College. During the competition, Millie created a film about the North East and what makes the region unique. She said: “I really enjoyed the whole process, it was definitely a challenge only having two hours to film and then two hours to edit, but it was lots of fun.”

The short film category was judged by local video marketing company, Wander Films, who chose Millie’s film as the winner, and she will now progress onto the national qualifiers due to take place later this year.

On her time at the College, Millie said, “There is a really good atmosphere here, and the College is very social. There’s always somewhere to go to relax or hang out with friends.

“I decided to come to Middlesbrough College after attending lots of different open events in the area, but nothing compared to the facilities here and there is so much practical and technical learning on the course, which I love.

“On the course you also get lots of creative freedom, but the work still challenges you. I’ve learned so much already and the lecturers are so supportive and are great at communicating feedback and providing you with help when you need it.”
