Maggie

Principalship Personal Assistant for Governor Services

Maggie tells us about her impressive career after being a staff member at Middlesbrough College for 40 years!

After leaving Southlands School, Maggie quickly began her career as a shorthand typist at a sporting company following a visit to the Job Centre and an advisor who browsed through the filing cabinet of vacancies.

Fast forward a few years gaining experience in the industry, she had begun her journey working for Longlands College working in a small typing pool consisting of 3 people. In 1984 she became PA to the Chief Executive, prior to the merging of Teesside Tertiary College and Middlesbrough College in 2002 – unaware she would still be part of the expanding team many years down the line.

Maggie said: “I have always worked for the Principalship at the College and never wanted to leave!”

“I’ve been lucky enough to work with some fantastic, thoughtful people during my time here and I have so many happy and hilarious memories”.

She has also been able to enjoy witnessing the College develop and grow over the years, from title changes to relocations, nicknaming the campus ‘the beast’ due to its impressive size!

When she’s not at her desk, Maggie enjoys walking her dogs, reading autobiographies, and watching movies – priding herself as a keen Marvel and Star Trek fan!
