Supporting our community

With over 10 years’ experience in education, Karen Woodland is leading the way to deliver exciting and rewarding courses for the Tees Valley Community.

Karen, who has worked at the College for over three and a half years, is the Head of Community Learning and Outreach and is responsible for delivering the College’s community learning provision. She helps deliver courses that the local community need to help them develop their career prospects, learn a new skill or simply find a new hobby and meet new people.

“The team I work with are fantastic. The learner comes first in everything we do. I love it when we get a positive outcome into employment for a learner. It changes not only the learner’s life but their families and the community.”

Having previously worked in the private sector with an exciting stint working in the capital, Karen loves nothing more than working for her local College:

“It is an amazing place to work, Middlesbrough College invest in their staff development. I feel empowered to make decisions and am valued in my department. It’s a fun place to work!

“I love being in a job role where I could make a difference.”
