Julie’s journey at Middlesbrough College started back in 1994!
Once her son started school, Julie was offered a part time job working in the kitchens washing pots, shortly before being promoted to assistant cook.
When the college merged to one campus, Julie began working on reception, splitting her time between the hair and beauty department and restaurant. Fast forward to 2012 and Julie landed her current role at the college as a Commercial Booking Officer.
Julie said “I have loved my time at the college. The staff are amazing – it’s like one big family! The students are great and you get so many opportunities working here. Just recently I have travelled to Barcelona and Poland with the students; something you don’t get to do often in other jobs!
“There are countless opportunities to learn and better yourself while working at Middlesbrough College – since working here I have gained a catering qualification, an assessor award, mental health certificate with distance learning and IOSH!”
“It’s also so rewarding to see students being rewarded for their hard work. I love witnessing them move on to exciting things. It’s great being involved in the annual awards as you have the chance to see them gain the recognition they deserve. It’s especially nice when you see former students come back to the college as staff members!”
In her spare time, Julie loves going on holiday, spending time with her Dalmatian, visiting her son in Leeds and attending to her allotment.
