Meet Andrew, Head of Teaching and Learning and A Level Business Tutor at MC6!
Andrew joined Middlesbrough College in 2011 and works as Head of Teaching and Learning at MC6. With a degree in Marketing and Management from Newcastle University, his journey into education came after working in roles such as Area Manager for Next and Marketing Assistant at GQ Magazine.
Before joining Middlesbrough College, Andrew spent over six years at Eston Park School, where he was Head of Business and Assistant Head of House. Since then, he’s had a big impact on the Business curriculum at MC6, teaching on the BTEC Level 3 Business Extended Diploma and supporting students through tutorial coordination and leadership roles.
Now, as Head of Teaching and Learning, Andrew supports staff with CPD planning, lesson observations and innovation in the classroom. “It’s all about continuous improvement,” he said. “We have a brilliant team here and I’m proud to help create an environment where staff and students can thrive.”
He’s also passionate about wellbeing and values the strong, supportive culture at MC6, where over 40 staff members work closely together to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners. “Supporting colleagues is something I really value, it’s important to look after our people if we want the best for our students.”
Andrew’s favourite part of the job is teaching A Level Business and working closely with students. “Sharing my love for Business and seeing our learners succeed is what it’s all about.”
Outside of college, Andrew enjoys spending time in the garden, dining out with friends, and walking his beloved dog Frank, cross between a pug and a French bulldog, along the beach.
