Adam Lamplugh

With over 20 years of experience working in welfare to work, Adam has supported people of all ages to help them find work. Adam is a Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) Mentor here at Middlesbrough College and has been in post since January 2021.

Adam said: “I decided to apply to work at Middlesbrough College as a friend of mine had started working at the College within the Adult & Community Learning (ACL) department and she told me about what a fantastic place the College is. She said that this will be her forever job and that she couldn’t see herself looking elsewhere for employment. I immediately starting looking at the job vacancies within the College as I too wanted to work for an employer that looks after their staff and supports them with their career development.

“I have been working at the College now for just over a year and I am employed to work in the ACL department on the YEI contract as a mentor. I love working at the College and helping to support students back into education, training, and employment.

“My role also supports students with mental health problems and I regularly meet with them to chat through anything that is worrying them. In addition to this, I help the department and anyone that needs guidance or advice.

“My favourite thing about my role at the College is seeing someone that I have been closely working with achieve their career and learning goals- this is very rewarding.

“I am also a staff ambassador for the Health & Wellbeing group at ACL and I co-chair the LGBTQ network within the College.

“If you are considering applying for a role here, I would encourage you to do so! Middlesbrough College is a great employer to work for.”
