Rich is a law graduate from Teesside University and former Litigation Assessment Manager for a Legal Expense Insurer. After completing a higher-level maths qualification with the Open University, Rich approached his local Further Education College about doing some voluntary work within the maths department. After attending an interview and impressing, Rich was offered a role as maths lecturer and was funded through his PGCE and an ILM operations Manager Qualification.
Rich said: “I was a maths lecturer at a different local College for over 8 years and I wanted a new challenge. I was looking for progression, and that’s when I saw the vacancy advertised for my role at Middlesbrough College. I jumped at the opportunity as I felt confident that I could do a good job, so applied and got the job!
“I’ve really enjoyed my first couple of weeks at the College and I’m still learning about the extent of my role and responsibilities. I’m excited to get going in the role and to help make a positive impact to our community! My main focus is to improve results and I’m confident that I can help the team to achieve this.
“For me this role is a new challenge, it’s a much bigger College than I have worked with previously and the scale and scope of what’s to come feels very exciting. Everyone has been very welcoming and friendly. If you’re looking for a fresh work environment, enjoy a challenge and believe in education, then I would recommend applying for a role at Middlesbrough College.
“I’m a father of 3 young children, so a lot of my spare time is taken up in their hobbies and interests, but on the very odd occasion where I have time for me, I enjoy reading and playing musical instruments.”
