Health and Social Care (A Level Equivalent) – Level 3

The course includes a mixture of exams and Non-Examined Assessment (NEA)

The mandatory units are:

• Principles of health and social care (exam)
• Anatomy and physiology for health and social care (exam)
• Person-centered approach to care (NEA)
• Supporting people with mental health conditions (NEA)
  

You will also study two of the following:

• Supporting people with long term physiological conditions (NEA)
• Investigating public health (NEA)
• Supporting people in relation to sexual health, pregnancy and postnatal health (NEA)
• Supporting healthy nutrition and lifestyles (NEA)
  

This is a 2 year course studied September – June.

You should have achieved at least five GCSES at Grade 4/5 or above, including English language and mathematics.

As well as the entry requirements above you will also need to meet the specific requirements for the A Level courses you choose.

Assessment is continuous throughout the qualification and is a mixture of external examinations and internally assessed assignments.

There are two examinations in Year 1, with one module with internally assessed assignments. In Year 2, you will have one examination and two one module with internally assessed assignments.

University opportunities:

Past students have progressed to study degrees in social work, health, wellbeing and social care, working with children and young people, adult social care, nursing, psychology, criminology, early childhood practice, social and public sector studies and youth, childhood and community studies.?
Career opportunities:

Career opportunities include social work, nursing, counselling, paramedic practice, youth work, support work and teaching.

Students should have files and file dividers to support their studies.

Our MC Click scheme provides full time students (ages 16-19) on a Level 1, 2 or 3 study programmes with a free loanlaptop to assist with their studies. Laptops can be collected at enrolment. Click here for more information about MC Click.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on. Although not part of our full-time A Level study programme, students can work with our dedicated Work Experience Co-ordinator to secure a suitable placement, be that a one-off experience, or a more long-term placement.
