Occupational Entry in Social Care – Level 2

Modules include:

• Employment knowledge and social care sector requirements
• Principles of care and wellbeing
• Specific needs, including common mental health conditions, physical health conditions and neurodiversity
• Recording and monitoring changes and professional duties
• Health promotion and supporting positive lifestyle choices
• Activities of daily living to support and empower individuals

The English and maths qualification that you will study is dependent on your current attainment.

September – June

You must have achieved four GCSEsbetween Grades3-9 and/or an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification. If you have a grade 3 or below in GCSE English and/or maths you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your study programme. You will be required to complete a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

All work is assessed as coursework to include written assignments, posters, practical and online tasks.

On successful completion of this course, you can seek employment in the care sector or progress to an apprenticeship.

To progress to a Level 3 qualification you will need to achieve an overall grade B, grade 4 in maths and English GCSE, completion of block placement with satisfactory feedback and an overall positive report from your personal tutor.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

Learners will be expected to attend a minimum of two weeks placement during the programme, this can occur to in either a two-week block, day release or two one-week blocks.
