Overview

This course will develop your immediate brickwork skills and knowledge. You will cover a variety of skills such as constructing cavity walling, forming masonry structures, building solid walling and the overall principles of building construction. You will also learn about health, safety and wellbeing in industry.

  • Interpreting Working Drawings to set out Masonry Structures
  • Building Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers
  • Construct Cavity Walling Forming Masonry Structures

September- June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 Brickwork qualification.

You will be assessed through coursework, practical and unit based examinations and an online multi-choice exam.

You can progress to further study on the Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork course, or an apprenticeship if employment is gained with a brickwork company.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Construction

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
