Oliver Prime, a progression studies student at Middlesbrough College has won the Gold award in his category overall for the Inclusive Skills Regional Art and Design competition, organised by Colin Galley at East Durham College.
To be entered into the competition, students had to design, create and produce a Seasonal Greetings Card. Oliver enjoyed the competition and was thrilled to be awarded first place in the inner College competition.
Oliver then had to re-create his winning design at Stockton Riverside College where all the winners from each college competed for the Gold award. Classmate Haydn Straughn also did very well in the competition and was awarded a certificate of achievement for his entry. The colleges and schools who took part in the regional competition included Stockton Riverside College, East Durham College, Catcote, Derwentside College, New College Durham, Sunderland College, Kirkley, and The Oaks.
When Oliver found out he had won the overall competition he was over the moon! Oliver said “I was on cloud nine when I heard the news. I couldn’t believe it! Art is my passion and I hope to do more competitions in the future.
“My course is great- we always get great opportunities like this competition! I love all my tutors and I enjoy coming into College.”
His personal tutor Ann Anderson said “We are all very proud of Oliver. He has done extremely well.”
Oliver will be presented with his award at East College Durham in an awards ceremony in May.
