Middlesbrough College has appointed experienced further education leader Jonathan Inglesfield as its new assistant principal for construction, engineering and TTE as it continues to strengthen industry links and develop the workforce of the future.

In his new role, Jonathan will lead the continued development of the college’s TTE construction and engineering provision, support curriculum reform and strengthen links with industry to create even more opportunities for students to progress into employment.

Bringing more than two decades of experience in education, and extensive knowledge of the construction sector, Jonathan joins the senior leadership team from Barnsley College, where he served as head of construction.

Originally training and working as a plasterer from school, Jonathan began his career in education through part-time teaching and has remained in the sector ever since.

Jonathan said: “From the moment I walked through the doors, I could see there was something special about Middlesbrough College. The culture, the staff, the students and the support available really stood out to me.

“One of my biggest priorities is to build on the incredible industry links and outcomes the College currently boasts, ensuring young people have the skills, behaviours and opportunities needed to succeed in employment.

“When I left school, education wasn’t really for me, but further education and construction gave me opportunities I might never otherwise have had.

“I care deeply about giving that same chance to young people and ensuring they have the ability to choose and dictate their own future.”

The college’s principal and CEO, Zoe Lewis CBE, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to Middlesbrough College.

“His passion for further education, his deep understanding of construction and engineering and his commitment to creating life-changing opportunities for young people make him a fantastic addition to our leadership team.

“We are incredibly proud of the strong relationships we have with industry and the success of our students, and I know Jonathan will build on these foundations as we continue to develop the skills our region needs for the future.

“His own journey and dedication to helping others succeed embody everything we stand for as a college, and I am excited to see the difference he will make.”
