Exam season is around the corner, and it’s completely normal to feel a mix of nerves, pressure and overwhelm.  However, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone.

With the right mindset, approach and a few simple strategies, there are plenty of ways to help you along the way, we’ve put together a few simple tips to help you manage your stress and stay on track during exam season!

Create a revision plan and set realistic goals

Putting together a clear revision plan can make an enormous difference to managing your workload during exam season.

Focus on the subjects or topics that need the most attention, and break them down into small, manageable tasks. This can help prevent overworking and make your workload feel much more achievable.

Remember that each task you complete, no matter how small, is a step forward and a sign that you are making progress!

Practice relaxation techniques

Relaxing is the opposite of stressing, so it’s important to build regular downtime into your revision routine.

Take small breaks from your revision and do something that makes you feel at peace such as listening to music, gaming, or exercising. Remember, taking breaks isn’t a waste of time – it’s essential for helping you stay focused, recharge your energy, and perform at your best during exam season.

Allow yourself to take a step back from something if it’s too stressful and do breathing exercises or meditate to help relax your mind. It may even help you take a clearer approach to what you were struggling with in the first place!

Prioritize self-care

Looking after yourself is really important, especially during exam time. When your body and mind feel good, it’s much easier to stay focused and do your best.

There are lots of simple ways to take care of yourself. Going for a short walk can help you feel refreshed and clear your mind. Getting a good night’s sleep will help you think more clearly and remember what you’ve learned. Drinking plenty of water and eating regular meals will also help keep your energy up.

Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated – it’s all about doing small, helpful things each day so you can feel your best.

Don’t keep feelings bottled up

Keeping everything bottled up might feel easier in the moment, but it usually makes stress much harder to deal with. Talking to someone you trust can really help.

Talk to your friends or family. They might be feeling the same way as you, so having a chat can help you both feel better and less alone. You might also share helpful ideas with each other on how to stay calm and manage stress.

At home, your parents or carers have likely been through exams themselves, so they understand how it feels. Letting them know what’s going on means they can support you and help make things a bit easier while you’re getting through it.

You’re not expected to handle it all on your own – support is always there when you ask for it!
