Wood Occupations – Level 2

Modules will include:

• Health and safety in a Construction Environment
• Principles of Welfare Health and Safety in Construction Environments
• Principles of working in the Construction Industry
• Timber Technology
• Planning and Preparing setting out and marking out Architectural Joinery
• Use of Woodworking machinery
• Architectural Joinery component Production
• Assembly and finishing of Architectural Joinery Products
• Structural Carpentry
• First Fix Carpentry
• Second fix carpentry
• Circular saw

This is a 1 year course studied September – June, with potential exams/coursework hand in dates/extra sessions in July.

At least four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English language, maths and science. You can also progress onto this course once you have achieved an appropriate Level 1 qualification.

Learners who have not achieved Grade 4 or above in GCSE English language and/or maths will have these subjects added to the timetable.

Learners will be accessed through an externally marked multi-choice exam and assessments/practical assignment. Results will be a Pass/Fail.

Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto a Level 3 Construction course, or into an apprenticeship.

All personal protective equipment (PPE), tools and equipment will be provided.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.
