Site Carpentry and Joinery – Level 3

Modules offered may vary.

Modules will include:

• Advanced Setting Out Techniques
• Principles of Construction and Project management
• Carry Our First Fixing Operations
• Carry Out Second Fixing Operations
• Set Up and Operate Cutting and Shaping Machinery
• Complex Structural Carcassing Components
• And Maintain Non-Structural And Structural Components

This is a 1 year course studied September – June, with potential exams/coursework hand in dates/extra sessions in July.

Learners are required to have achieved a Level 2 qualification within construction to progress to this course.

You will be assessed through coursework, practical assessment and unit test paper and an online multi-choice exam.

You can progress to full time employment as a site carpenter in industry, potentially through an apprenticeship if you have an employer. You could also continue your studies into higher education to progress onto a professional management role.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

Within this programme learners are expected to complete 30 hours placement within the year and will be supported by the placement team to give them the experience they need to be work ready. Following a holistic approach, this work experience will feed directly into the units that are taught and can utilise what they have learnt into their summative assessments and social action projects.
