Middlesbrough College’s Performing and Production Arts students are set to bring the classic fairy tale of Cinderella to life this December! Bursting with popular tunes such as Dance the Night Away, Mr Blue Sky and Walking on Sunshine, the annual Middlesbrough College pantomime promises to transport audiences into a world of magic, laughter, and timeless wonder, and is the perfect way to kickstart your festive season!
This year, students from Middlesbrough College are telling the story of Cinderella and audiences can expect heaps of talent, stunning costumes, vibrant choreography, amazing vocals and plenty of pantomime laughs!
Taking to the stage in the leading roles this year is Lily Trimmer and Arianne Steel as Cinderella, Eleanor Seal and Sophie Gilson as The Prince, and Jack Murray, Harry Bowman, Josh Bowes and Ryan Lightfoot sharing the roles of the Ugly Stepsisters.
First year Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) student Lily Trimmer is staring in her first leading role with the College, she said: “I am absolutely loving rehearsing for Cinderella! The show is going to be a real festive treat for audiences, and I would encourage everyone to book tickets to come and support us! I guarantee that you’ll be singing and dancing along!
“It’s been fantastic working with the cast and the tutors are professional in their approach to directing us. It is giving me a real taste of working in the industry and my skillset is developing.
“Everyone in the Performing Arts department is so supportive, and I can’t wait to get the show in front of an audience!”
Second year student Eleanor Seal, who is performing in the role of The Prince said: “I have really enjoyed rehearsing for the pantomime this year! Everyone has worked so hard to get the show ready.
“It’s been a fantastic experience studying Performing Arts at Middlesbrough College. We perform in a range of shows every year which has increased my confidence levels, developed my performance skills and prepared me well for working professionally in the industry.
“Working on the pantomime this year has allowed me to develop my characterisation and bring creative ideas to the role.
“I’m applying to drama schools this year, and I know that with the support of my tutors and the opportunities I’ve had whilst studying at College, I’m in the best possible position for fulfilling my ambitions of becoming a professional actor.”
Nicola Scott-Hughes, director and co-ordinator for Performing & Production Arts at Middlesbrough College said: “The Middlesbrough College pantomime is an annual tradition for our community, and this year audiences can expect the show to be bigger and better than ever!
