Overview

This course is designed to further develop the skills and knowledge to work to an advanced level in carpentry and joinery and is intended as a progression route from the Level 2 Diploma.

  • Principles of Construction and Project management
  • Carry Our First Fixing Operations
  • Carry Out Second Fixing Operations
  • Set Up and Operate Cutting and Shaping Machinery
  • Complex Structural Carcassing Components
  • Maintain Non-Structural And Structural Components

2 Days per week, days and times confirmed upon enrolment.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved Level 2 in Site Carpentry.

You will be assessed through coursework, practical assessments, unit test papers and an online multi-choice exam.

You can progress into employment as a site joiner.

You can also study for an Access to Higher Education qualification.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. Many people qualify for free tuition fees, for more information please contact Course Information on 01642 333333.

Level 3 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this is your first full Level 3 qualification the course is free.

Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee. Please note any fee shown excludes any additional costs to learners for any necessary equipment, materials, uniforms or any visit/residential that learners are required to participate in.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
