This course will involve a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions to establish underpinning knowledge and understanding of welding activities, and will cover producing plate work components and assemblies, welding by MMA, MIG and TAG process, fabricating steelwork assemblies, safe working practices and communicating technical information.

The qualifications you will be studying through the year are, the City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Welding).

September - June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and/ or GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including Maths, English and Science.

You will be assessed through practical assessment and online/paper based multiple choice examinations.

You will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 programme or a gain employment as a Level 3 apprentice in the field of welding.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
