Back to class! Ex-student Charlie returns on the other side of the classroom

15 October 2020

Meet Charlie Turner, a former Middlesbrough College student who came back to teach at MC6!

Charlie studied A Levels in Psychology, English Language and English Literature in 2014 at Middlesbrough College Sixth Form and progressed to study Psychology at University.

After gaining his degree, Charlie decided he wanted to pass on his knowledge to future generations and train to be a teacher. Charlie chose to return to Middlesbrough College to complete his teaching training placements and quickly impressed his soon-to-be colleagues.

After successfully finishing his training, Charlie applied for a teaching position at Middlesbrough College Sixth Form and today Charlie’s old classroom, where he once was taught is now his new office as he works full time as an Applied Psychology and Criminology tutor.

Charlie said: “I still can’t believe that I’m back at Middlesbrough College but on the other side of the classroom, it is surreal but amazing. I am absolutely loving working here, it honestly doesn’t even feel like work. I wake up every morning excited to come to College and teach- it’s brilliant.

“Middlesbrough College Sixth Form ignited my passion for Psychology and I feel very privileged to be now passing on my love for the subject to the young people who study here.

“Studying A Levels was challenging but it was also incredibly rewarding - I would definitely recommend coming to Middlesbrough College if you have ambitions to go into teaching or progress to University like I did.

“My former tutors are now my colleagues which is so strange, but they are very supportive and I love working with them. I have to say that Middlesbrough College is a fantastic place to work and study. Everyone, colleagues and students are very welcoming and there is a lovely atmosphere.”

Applications to study A Levels for September 2021 are now open. Find out more here and apply today to secure your place!
