Support Staff Academy (Supporting Teaching and Learning in School)

The course merges theoretical and practical assessments and includes: 

• Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges 
• L1 Award Personal Development for Employability  
• Basic Computing skills for teaching  
• DBS 
• Paediatric First Aid

Various start dates available. Learners will study Monday – Thursday, 9.30am – 3.30pm for 4 weeks.

• Applicants must be aged 19+
• Must be a Tees Valley resident
• Must bring proof of benefit to enrolment session
• Applicants who have not lived in the UK or EU since birth must bring proof of residency, e.g. passport (3 years old) or residence permit
• Hold or be working at a Level 1 English standard
• Hold or be working at a Level 1 maths standard

Learners will be assessed through a portfolio of work and an exam.

Guaranteed job interview with employer every 4th week of each cohort 

Individuals must be aged 19 or over, unemployed or employed and earning under £33,210 per annum to receive full funding.

Learners will meet the employer whilst training with Middlesbrough College. 

ACL’s Employer Engagement Team will support learners into work, with onsite support during the course. Including interview techniques and application support and signposting vacancies
