Course overview

If you are passionate about food and you are keen to enter this fast paced and exciting sector, then this course is for you. You will develop your practical and theoretical knowledge and prepare yourself to succeed in this dynamic environment. This two year vocational course combines real world learning in the workplace with theoretical study.

Throughout the course you will have access to industry-standard, commercial kitchens where you will work. You also investigate and work with local businesses to expand and apply your knowledge of the sector and to showcase your skills to potential employers. Your practical sessions are supported by guest speakers and industrial visits to key local and national organisations to help you understand the infrastructure of the industry. You will develop the knowledge and understanding required to succeed academically at this level.

This practical and academic combination of study provides a platform to develop your future career and academic goals. You will gain a combination of management, educational, technical and practical skills to succeed academically at this level.

Catering and Hospitality students will have the opportunity to work in our award winning training restaurant, The Waterside Brasserie. The restaurant is open to the public across the week and all the food is prepared and served by our students in one of our five fully equipped industrial kitchens.
