Diploma in Renewable Energy – Level 3

Modules offered may vary.

Modules will include:

• ETA/001 Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety
• QETA/002 Engineering Organisational Efficiency and Improvement
• QETA/006 Computer Aided Design (CAD) Techniques
• QETA/029 Maintenance of Mechanical Systems
• QETA/033 Maintenance of Fluid Power Systems and Components
• QETA/038 Installation of Electrical Equipment
• QETA/015 Electrical Testing and Commissioning
• QETA/062 Panel wiring for engineering applications

This is a 1 year course studied September – June, with potential exams/coursework hand in dates/extra sessions in July.

At least four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English language, maths and science. You can also progress onto this course once you have achieved an appropriate Level 2 qualification.

Students will be assessed through 3 practical tests and 3 multiple choice examinations.

Upon successful completion, students can progress to industry as an apprentice in either Wind Turbine, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

For Renewable Engineering courses, you must submit your application by 25th January 2027 to be considered as part of the main recruitment process for TTE. You must attend a Subject Showcase to be considered. Applications received after thisdate will be placed on a waiting list. All full time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
