AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting

You will study four key areas:

• Business Awareness – develop your understanding of how businesses operate, the role of finance within an organisation, and the wider business environment.
• Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements – develop the skills needed to prepare financial statements and maintain accurate financial records, including adjustments and year-end processes.
• Management Accounting Techniques – learn how management accounting information is used for costing, budgeting, planning and supporting business decisions.
• Tax Processes for Businesses – develop your understanding of business taxation and the processes involved in preparing and supporting tax returns.

Together, these units develop the practical accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress within an accounting or finance role and provide a strong foundation for further professional study.

Learners will study 1 day per week.

The AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is typically completed within 14 – 16 months, giving you time to develop your knowledge and prepare for each of the four online examinations.

It is recommended that you have some previous accounting knowledge or experience, or have completed a previous accounting course such as the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

Applicants are normally required to hold English and Maths at Grade 4 or above. Evidence of these qualifications must be provided at enrolment. If you are unable to produce certificates or do not meet these entry requirements, you may be invited to complete an initial assessment as part of the application process.

Assessment is through online examinations. You will complete an online assessment for each of the four units:

• Business Awareness
• Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
• Management Accounting Techniques
• Tax Processes for Businesses

You will receive support and preparation throughout your course to help you develop the knowledge and skills needed for each assessment.
