Introducing Dior and Liz, MC6’s New Head Boy and Girl

11 Nov 2025
Liz And Dior

For the very first time, MC6 is thrilled to have appointed a Head Boy and Head Girl – and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Dior Ayitey and Liz Falconer into these new roles.

Dior and Liz will be helping to guide a team of 20 student leaders as part of MC6’s growing student voice, and both are passionate about supporting their fellow students, bringing energy, dedication and fresh ideas to our Sixth Form.

With plenty of ideas already in motion, their leadership aims to make MC6 an even more welcoming, supportive and inspiring place for everyone!

Liz, formerly a student at Outwood Acklam, is studying Media Studies, Politics and English Language. Now in her second year of study at MC6, she is eager to make a difference.

She said: “I’ve always liked the idea of being someone students can come to when they don’t feel confident speaking to teachers,” Liz explained. “If I can help relay their thoughts and make positive changes, then that means a lot. I want to make MC6 even better.”

For Liz, becoming Head Girl means turning ideas into action. She is passionate about championing charity events and further building on MC6’s positive, supportive environment, ensuring all students feel heard. Her long-term goal is to study Primary Education at university and go on to become a primary school teacher.

Liz said: “MC6 offers so much choice, independence, and the freedom to pursue what you’re passionate about. You’re treated like an adult here. You’re independent but supported – it feels right.”

Dior, who previously studied at St Peter’s Catholic College, is studying A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology and is equally passionate about the importance of student leadership.

Having held the role of Head Boy in secondary school, Dior understands the responsibility and impact the position can have.

He said: “I want to be a voice for students. People sometimes find it difficult to speak to teachers directly, so if I can be someone they trust to help communicate their needs, that matters.”

Dior hopes to make MC6 a place where everyone feels able to express themselves and enjoy their experience, and he is especially keen to lead charity initiatives that bring the college community together.

Inspired by his older brother who also studied at MC6, he plans to progress to university after Sixth Form. He said: “The teachers at MC6 are so lovely and encouraging. They really help you believe in yourself. It’s great being a student here, and I want to build on that experience and make it even better.”

Together, Liz and Dior hope to encourage open communication between students and staff, strengthen the sense of community, and make sure everyone feels that MC6 is a place where they can thrive.

When asked about their advice to other students considering joining MC6, both Liz and Dior had great advice.

Liz said: “Go for it – and don’t be afraid to try something new. Take every opportunity with an open mind. If you want to reach your goals, come to MC6. You’ll grow here and you’ll enjoy it!”

Dior added: “Look at what you want to do, then do what you enjoy and what motivates you. Come to taster days, meet people – you’ll feel at home here.”

We are incredibly proud to welcome Liz and Dior into their new roles and look forward to the positive impact they will make across our Sixth Form.

Andrew Heaney-Merryweather, Deputy Head of MC6, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new Head Boy and Head Girl at Middlesbrough College Sixth Form. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and leadership embody the values of our college community. We are confident they will represent our students with pride, lead by example, and continue to inspire others to achieve their very best.”

Congratulations to both Dior and Liz – and here’s to a fantastic year ahead at MC6!
