“I really enjoyed studying at Middlesbrough College. Throughout my studies I felt well supported and the courses were well organised. 

“If you are aspiring to work in the music or sound engineering industry the music courses at Middlesbrough College are great. You will learn everything you need to start your career.

“I’m a now musician, singer/songwriter. I write, record and produce my own music. I used to be a drummer and was very lucky to be in a band that recorded at Abbey Road Studios, that was an amazing experience. Last October I released my first single, written and produced on my own. This is something I never thought I’d do!

“I love hearing my songs on the radio, there’s lots of independent stations that are very supportive, and being played on BBC introducing is always amazing.

“There was a high level of teaching and support at Middlesbrough College. The tutors were always available if I needed anything. 

“The BSc Sound and Music Technology degree allowed me to record and produce my own music to a level that is good enough to release. If I didn’t do this course I probably wouldn’t be writing music, and if I was I would need to hire studios and work with producers which is likely to cost money and be time limited.

“Whilst studying the BTEC in Music Practice I developed my skills as a musician which allowed me to write, record and perform.

“I enjoyed most of the modules, but stand out subjects are Audio and MIDI theory, and studio recording.

“When studying the BTEC Level 3 Music Practice course I visited London to see a Britpop expo which was a fantastic experience. We also did regular gigs as part of the course!

“I chose to study at Middlesbrough College due to the wide range of subjects on offer. It was also really easy to travel to and in an ideal location.

“The facilities at the college were brilliant and allowed me to learn the skills needed with the most up-to-date and best equipment.”
