Overview

This programme is Institute for Outdoor Learning accredited, guaranteeing you professional excellence in outdoor learning. Middlesbrough College is one of just five providers in the country to be awarded, recognising this programme as a leader in outdoor education.

This course is intended to launch your career by bringing together theory, practice and experience which is vital to have an effective baseline to find successful employment opportunities. You get trained and assessed in a range of industry required qualifications so that you are ready for employment and can take ownership of your own career pathway.

The course is a leader in the outdoor education sector and is Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) accredited. The course is a blend of vocational awards, academic study and current industry experiences. The teaching staff include directors of adventure businesses, academics, technical advisors and governing body award providers.

September - May

The BA degree is taught on Fridays (academic lessons) and 4 to 6 weekends through the year. There are optional activity support days through the week.

Learning is face to face.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have completed the FD Outdoor Adventure Education and Leadership course to progress onto this course.

Applicants must have one of the following requirements:

1. Have acheived 48 UCAS tariff points. The points can be from a range of Level 3 qualifications (NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 3, A LEvel or relevant T Level qualification).

2. Possess vocational equivalent qualifications (at Level 3), such as VTCT, CYQ or Active IQ. Governing body awards or military leadership skills.

3. Industrial entry is often non-standard applicants will be considered on individual merit and work or industrial experience relevant to the programme.

You will be required to have an acceptable Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

This course ha 4 modules. Each module is assessed by assignment, observation or questions. There are options for other methods such as video or voice.

We provide all the specialist equipment, but most students build their own outdoor walking and paddle sport kit in the first year of the course.
