Art & design students from Middlesbrough College have displayed their talents as part of Middlesbrough local history month and have partnered with The Heritage Gallery to launch ‘Teesside’s Teenside’ exhibition.

Inspired by their local area and heritage, art & design students from Middlesbrough College displayed their work in a truly diverse and intriguing exhibition. From graffiti to photography, mixed media and more, the display celebrated the student’s creativity and achievements.

Gallery curator, Jodie Athey said: “It has been a wonderful experience working with Middlesbrough College. The students are very passionate, and this is presented in their work.

“At the exhibition, you can expect to see a young vibrant visual response to our beautiful Teesside! This exhibition is also a great chance to see the up-and-coming talent within the art sector. All the students have vibrant careers ahead of them and I can’t wait to see what they will achieve.

“I look forward to working on more projects with the art & design team at Middlesbrough College.”

Linda Kearsey, a lecturer in art & design at Middlesbrough College said: “Our students have worked so hard, and it has been an amazing experience seeing their work showcased at the beautiful Heritage Gallery.

“This exhibition has been a fantastic opportunity for our students, as they have showcased the results of their exploration through styles and methods during their time at College.

“Every student from Level 1- Level 3 has had the opportunity to submit a piece of work for the exhibition and everyone has been given the chance to shine. The students have risen to the challenge and should be extremely proud of their work.

“It’s been a great insight into industry for our students too. They were set a brief, a deadline for submission and taken through the curation process.

“The pieces that the students have created are diverse, individual and share a common love for Middlesbrough- I’m bursting with pride!”

Talented artist and Level 1 art & design student, Charlie Hughes said: “I’ve really enjoyed working on this project with The Heritage Gallery. Having my work framed and displayed in a stunning gallery makes me feel validated. I want to pursue a career in the art industry and thanks to Middlesbrough College, I’m gaining the experience and skills I need to achieve my dream.”

The collection is a festivity of colour, technique and culture and is not to be missed! The exhibition runs until Friday 10th June 2022 at The Heritage Gallery.
