It has been designed to enhance student employability, providing excellent outcomes in either employment or progression to professional study.

There is a significant vocational focus to the course and a range of work experiences and/or placement settings are available to you for development of learning in practice.

Year 1 modules include:
• Work-Based Learning: Health and Social Care Practice
• Safeguarding Vulnerable Individuals
• Academic Study Skills and Digital Literacy
• Health and Wellbeing in Context

Year 2 modules include:
• Work-Based Learning: Health and Social Care Service Development
• Research Methods in Health and Social Care
• Public Health
• Specific Needs

September- May

2-3 days per week.

Plus an additional day in a relevant placement setting.

Learning is face to face.

Entry requirements

• You must have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a health related subject (including a relevant T Level qualification).
• You are required to have GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and maths.
• Related work experience is preferable but not essential.
• Acceptance for the course is conditional upon a successful Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) and interview.

You will be assessed through formative assessments to help develop your academic skills as well as several forms of summative assessment including assignments, examinations, presentations, portfolio work, case studies, workbooks and projects.

You will also be assessed through a work-based e-portfolio demonstrating practice development achieved within the workplace/placement.

Successful students may choose to progress to the BSc (Hons) Health, Wellbeing and Social Care [Top-up], a one year top-up programme also delivered at the College, to gain a full honours degree award.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £6,900 per year.
