This course is suitable for welders who want to update their skills, those who want to learn a new welding process and the DIY enthusiast.

The course teaches the principles and practice of welding. There are five test pieces to complete. These will be completed during the year and all are tested and assessed in the workshop.

Modules include:

  • Manual Metal Arc Welding
  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding
  • Oxy-Acetylene Welding
  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding

1 Evening per week

Tuesday 5.30pm-8.30pm

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry qualifications for this course, and no prior knowledge of welding is required.

All assessment is completed in the workshop through practical activities, testing your practical skills and your knowledge of the underlying processes.

You can progress onto the CG L2 3268-201 Introductory Weld Skills Arc Welding.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.
