Overview

This course will provide you with the opportunity to gain skills and information about the technical aspects of the music industry. This course allows you to gain both hands on experience in practical scenarios as well as develop an in-depth theoretical knowledge on the technical aspects and areas of the music industry. You will cover acoustics for musicians, audio engineering principles, composing music, concert production and staging, dj performance techniques and music events management.

September - June

Typically you will be in college between 9.00am to 17:00pm for 4 days a week (subject to change). Free time slots within the timetable will be best suited to self development and access to the college facilities.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and /or five GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) or above.

You will be assessed through written submissions, presentations, practical assessments and verbal discussions.

University opportunities
Past students have progressed to study degrees in audiovisual technology, sound and music technology, music technology and music production.


Career opportunities
Career opportunities include audio-video production, visual effects, animation, audio development, teaching, music technician, management, studio engineering, game audio, multimedia design and management.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
