Taking employability higher

We will equip you for career success with our strong employment focus and employer links.

Qualifications are all about preparing you for future employment. Our close links with employers help us ensure our curriculum reflects what is expected in an industry – giving you a head start in the jobs race.

We currently work in partnership with over 2,000 employers across the North of England and beyond who help shape our programmes so that they are more in line with their needs. Our degrees place an emphasis on practical learning, so not only do you get the qualifications you need to enter your chosen career but you can expect to gain plenty of work experience too.

Our team of careers advisers are also on hand to provide free information, advice and guidance on the range of progression opportunities available to you after completing your University level qualification.

Ultimately, you’ll be very employable after a degree taken at Middlesbrough College with a good mix of practical and classroom experience that appeals to employers.

Our degrees include:

We regularly invite employers in to deliver presentations and seminars to our higher education students. These allow students to network with industry professionals and get an insight into the professional behaviours expected of an industry.

Students can partake in a range of site visits across the year, broadening their industry knowledge and applying their academic knowledge to workplace situations.

A high proportion of our degrees – in particular the foundation degree- contains a significant work placement. This ensures graduates have what employers frequently ask for, experience. We have a dedicated Placement Co-ordinator who will help students find work experience relevant to their aspirations and our careers employability specialist can help students source and apply for internships.

As part of our student’s professional development, they are often asked to work on live projects – these range from project managing an event in the Waterside Brasserie Restaurant to working towards an employer's brief in our STEM Engineering Centre.

Students are often encouraged to showcase their talents at professional events and competitions ranging from culinary events to music performances.
