Tees Valley Net Zero Industry Scholarship

We’re helping you kick start your Net Zero Career with the Tees Valley Net Zero Scholarship Programme!
Ever wanted to work in the cleaner, healthier and safer industries of tomorrow, but didn’t know where to start? The Tees Valley Net Zero Industry Scholarship could be the path for you.
As part of this programme, Middlesbrough College and TTE are accepting applications for groups in Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering.
Applications are now open for the scholarship, which aims to train a new generation of skilled workers in key industrial roles crucial to the success of our region’s Net Zero ambitions.
What’s more, participants will receive £200 per month during term time to help support them financially as they develop their skills.

Scholarship pathways:
Instrumentation
Instrumentation Technicians work across various industries and sectors that utilise automated processes, including production lines, chemical plants, and the armed forces. Their primary role is to maintain the components essential for controlling these processes.
Learners will focus on:
- Health and Safety
- Maths for engineering technicians
- Industrial process measurement
- Engineering drawing
- Process plant control
- Electrical principles
Electrical
Electrical Technicians maintain and repair industrial equipment like transformers, generators, turbines, and compressors. They have varied job prospects and can specialise in high voltage or hazardous areas, leading to potential overseas or offshore work.
Learners will focus on:
- Health and Safety
- Organisational efficiency
- CAD Techniques
- Programmable logic controllers
- Electrical inspection and testing
- Maintenance and equipment installation

The scholarship is being powered by Net Zero Teesside Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership, which are working together on the Teesworks site to create the world’s first decarbonised industrial cluster thanks to a world-first power plant with carbon capture and storage capabilities.
