Statistics (A Level) – Level 3

• Probability and distributions (e.g., binomial, normal, Poisson, exponential)
• Sampling methods, populations vs samples, data collection techniques
• Statistical measures and summarising data (means, variances, standard deviation, IQR, outliers)
• Regression, correlation, contingency tables, hypothesis testing, inference
• The statistical enquiry cycle: planning, data collection, processing/presentation, interpretation, making conclusions and critique

September – June

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above, must include GCSE English Language at a minimum of a 5 and maths is required to be a grade 7.

The qualification is externally assessed only (no coursework).

There are three papers, each 2 hours long, worth 80 marks each, each contributing one-third of the qualification.

A Level Statistics opens doors to lots of exciting pathways — especially when combined with subjects like Biology, Psychology, Business, Geography, Economics, Sociology or Maths. After this course, you could go on to:
