Electrical Engineering for Non-Electrical Engineers

The aim of the course is to provide non-electrical personnel the skills to carry out tasks which involve some electrical working.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

• Understand the dangers of electricity
• Make isolations and restorations to a competency required for the tasks to be undertaken
• Understand basic electrical theory
• Identify a hazardous area
• Recognise a lighting circuit
• Know how trace heating operates
• Use correct test equipment

• The Electricity at Work Regulations
• Electrical testing equipment
• Electrical isolations
• Proving isolations
• Restorations
• Overload resets
• Fuse characteristics
• Lighting
• Trace heating
• Hazardous areas
• IS and loops

Various start dates available

Each candidate is required to demonstrate understanding through a 1 hour written, question paper.
