Graduation 2018 

Our graduation ceremony will be held on Tuesday 6th November at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Please see the times below to check which time your course is graduating.

Invites for eligible students will be sent out in the post.

Each student will receive an initial allocation of 2 guest tickets which will be free of charge.

Please make arrangements to arrive at least 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the ceremony and bring your student ID card if you have one to assist you with registration on the day (if you do not arrive on time your name will be scored off the list for the ceremony).

Schedule for ceremonies

10:45am Ceremony 

8:30am: Gown collection and photography are available
10am: Middlesbrough Town Hall doors open for guests to take their seats
10:30am: All guests must be seated
10:45am: Ceremony begins
11:30am: Ceremony ends, refreshments are now available from The Crypt
12:30pm: Refreshment area closes
5:00pm: Latest time for photography 
5:15pm: Gowns must be returned to Ede & Ravenscroft

3pm Ceremony

12:45pm: Gown Collection and photography are available
2:15pm: Middlesbrough Town Hall doors open for guests to take their seats
2:45pm: All guests and graduates must be seated
3pm: Ceremony begins
4pm: Ceremony ends, refreshments are now available from The Crypt

Before the Day

Please check that you are eligible to graduate.

How do I register?

You will need to register to confirm your attendance and your guest’s attendance online, this can be done here.  Please search for Middlesbrough College as your institution and then complete the form with your personal details. You will have to create an account to do this. 

Tickets

Your graduate ticket and two guest tickets are free of charge. Tickets will be emailed to students by Ede and Ravenscroft a week before your graduation ceremony.  The deadline to order your tickets is Friday 28th September 2018. Please print out and bring all tickets with you on the day as they will be checked by staff on entry to Middlesbrough Town Hall.  If you have any problems downloading your tickets then please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly on 01223 861854.

Hire your gown

You can hire your gown through the Ede & Ravenscroft online booking website. You will need to provide them with details of your height and head measurements. Hired gowns will be available for collection from the Dance Hall in Middlesbrough Town Hall on the day of your ceremony. Please return your gown after the ceremony. 

If you can no longer attend your ceremony and need to cancel your gown hire order please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly on 01223 861854 and they will assist you with the refund process.

Pre book your photographs

Ede & Ravenscroft are providing the photography for the ceremonies and you can pre-book your photography package through their online booking website at the same time as you confirm your gown hire.



FAQs for the day

You should arrive at Middlesbrough Town Hall at least 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony and immediately proceed to the sign in desk. 

Gowns will be collected from the Dance Hall at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Please note that you will need to bring a form of photo ID with you such as your College student card, driving licence or passport in order to collect your gown. 

The photographic service will be available at the Restored Fire Station at The Town Hall before and after each ceremony until 5pm. 

Please dress in smart clothes. Clothes with buttons down the front such as blouses and shirts are recommended in order to secure the hood to the shoulders. Please wear sensible and appropriate footwear.

Students must be wearing a gown in order to graduate. Ede & Ravenscroft is providing the gowning service at Middlesbrough Town Hall. The deadline to order your gown is Friday 28th September 2018. 

 

There are many public car parks in Middlesbrough, the closest being The Cleveland Centre, MIMA and Buxton Street.

Tickets will be emailed to students by Ede and Ravenscroft. Please print out and bring all tickets with you on the day as they will be checked by staff on entry to Middlesbrough Town Hall at the sign in desk.

You must present your tickets at the sign in desk. If you have any problems downloading your tickets please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly on 01223 861854.

Graduates sit in a different area to their guests and must sit in the seat indicated on their ticket. All graduates will be allocated a seat according to their surname and the award they are receiving.

You must sit in the seat that has been allocated to you. You will be called to the stage in a particular order and the seating plan is designed for this. If you do not sit in your allocated seat your name will not be called out during the ceremony. 

Please leave your belongings with your guests. You will only need to bring your ticket with you.

Stand when the procession music starts and the academic procession enters the main hall and takes their seats on the stage.

At the appropriate time, you will be directed onto the stage where your award will be conferred. You will then be directed by College staff to collect your certificate. 

 

Each ceremony lasts approximately 1 hour. 

Graduates will join the academic procession.

The stewards will direct graduates to join the procession when appropriate; you will proceed down the centre aisle and out through the door where you should wait for your guests to join you.

Guests should remain in their seats until directed to leave.

After the ceremony, please return your robes to Ede & Ravenscroft in the Dance Hall at The Town Hall.

 

You are your guests are invited to join us at the end of your ceremony for light refreshments in The Crypt in Middlesbrough Town Hall.

If you cannot attend your graduation ceremony please contact the Higher Education team on 01642 333642 or 01642 333496 as soon as possible, giving your name and the title of your award.

For graduates who cannot attend the ceremony the certificate will be posted out by recorded delivery to your permanent address.
