T Levels Week

T Levels are a combination of classroom learning and on-the-job work experience for specific careers. Each T Level course has been developed in collaboration with employers and providers, ensuring T Level students develop the technical skills and knowledge required by employers in that industry.

T Levels have a larger focus on work placement and have been designed in collaboration with employers to meet industry demands. Due to their strong focus on on-the-job training, each T Level course includes a 45-day work placement.

This work placement, which is completed as part of the T Level, equips students with a taste of the real working environment and a true understanding of industry.

These courses are all classed as core qualifications by the government. However, T Levels have a larger focus on on-the-job training.

A Levels are academic, designed to prepare students for University. Vocational courses offer practical skills and training for specific jobs, but without the structured industry placement that is integral to T Levels.

T Levels combine 80% classroom learning with 20% industry placement over 2 years, providing a mix of academic and practical education.

Apprenticeships involve 80% on-the-job training and 20% classroom learning, focusing primarily on practical work experience within a job setting.

T Levels can be studied by anyone aged 16-18 or students up to 24 who have an Education Health and Care Plan.

T Levels are assessed through practical employer-set projects, assignments and examinations.

T Levels are recognised by Universities and employers. After completing a T Level, you can progress to University, skills employment, an apprenticeship or higher apprenticeship.

To study a T Level you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including maths, English and, for some programmes, science.

If you don’t meet the entry requirements for a T Level after your GCSEs, don’t work. Our 1 year T Level Foundation programme offers a high-quality route onto your chosen T Level course and provides the additional support you need to prepare.

Entry requirements for the T Level foundation programme are a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English language, maths, and for some programmes, science. You will also be given an opportunity to study maths and/or English and resist your GCSEs to reach a grade 4/5.
